On 13th/14th May 2010 the ‘Friends of the Cat’ sent us a wonderful vet, Emily. Emily was not only a lovely person but a truly gifted vet who worked extremely hard for the two days she was with us. Emily neutered 20 female cats, of which 4 were heavily pregnant, and one of which was suffering from pyometra. In addition she neutered 5 males and conducted a number of consultations, including the horse in the Old Village. Follow up treatments were conducted by ASAP members and all the animals operated on recovered well and fully. I would like to thank all those who helped to make her visit such a success: Mike and Carol Holmes for providing accommodation, meals and a ‘surgery’; Andrew Lewin (and Mike) for spending 2 days clambering around in bushes collecting cats; Margaret Halliday for helping with the surgery and, as always, Guy Routh for his invaluable support and expertise in ensuring that the various surgical procedures were conducted so efficiently. It is vitally important that we make full use of the vet’s time when we are lucky enough to have a visiting vet and I think I can safely say that this visit was one of the most productive ever. Once again, my thanks to all those who gave up their time with such good humour. Julia Browne June 2010 Next Vets visit and location to be advised |
