Held on Thursday 22nd April 2010 At Clive Ponting's villa. Present: Chairperson - Julia Browne, Secretary - Annie Greeen Treasurer - Les Green Committee members - Craig Sinclair, Dinah Sinclair, Dianne Lewin Mike Holmes The meeting commenced at 19:00 Apologies and Chairperson address. Julia thanked everyone for attending and particularly Dianne for hosting and Clive for the use of the venue. Apologies were received from Nik and Lyn and Julia said that our good wishes were extended to Nik for a speedy recovery. She said that did not have much to say at this point, this being the last meeting before the Annual General Meeting, but hoped that we could finish on a positive note. Minutes of the Meeting held on Tuesday 16th March, 2010 The minutes having been read by all present were proposed by Mike as a true record, seconded by Craig and passed by the committee. Julia and Annie then signed the Minute Book. Matters arising from the minutes Julia said that after many attempts either telephoning or visiting the Licensing Office in Skopelos, Annie had at last managed to speak to someone about the application for a Licence for the Stall. A fax has been sent with a request for a Licence but no reply has been received yet. Mike asked when the stall could be moved to a site and Julia said that last year it was towards the end of May. Mike asked if the Stall could be moved there anyway but Annie said that the Port Police would not agree until we have a Licence to show them. Julia said that she had asked Annie to give her selected items from the stall to sell from her office at a “sale price”. This has been done. Julia said that the ASAP mobile phone has been registered now and would someone like to take it until the AGM. Mike took it. Nothing has been done about the next newsletter as Lyn has not been available to do anything. The calendars are ready now and some will be sent out to Julia shortly, the rest being brought back by Les and Annie on their return from the UK. The calendars will be on sale for €10 each. Julia said that she had spoken to Phillipa Smith and the agreement is that there will be a Treasure Hunt in the Old Village in September 2010. Julia and Chris are organising a May Ball and Buffet at the Pleiades Hotel to be held on Wednesday 26th May 2010. Julia says that hopefully the ladies will a “posh” dress and the men will be smartly attired. More information will be circulated nearer the event. The question of new shelters at Kitty City was discussed at length. It was suggested that the committee ask the Fund Raising Group to assist with the funding. Craig suggested large tents and will investigate on the internet to see if any are available at a good price. Secretary’s Report Apart from the usual emails to the committee, Annie said she had sent emails to the members with the newsletter and also informed them about the new website. She said she had received a donation from Ruth Povey for which she has emailed thanks on behalf of the committee. Craig suggested that ASAP should acknowledge donations by posting names on the website and Mike said he would organise this. Treasurer’s Report Les handed out the account sheets. It was suggested that we ask the Fund Raising Group to provide funds for different water dispensers at the feeding stations. Les said he will see Takis regarding types of dispensers and the cost of them. WORKING GROUP REPORTSVeterinary group Julia said that she had made 32 home visits since the last meeting. There was a long discussion regarding reports of distressed dogs. It was acknowledged that it is more of a problem because these dogs are owned privately. Julia said that George Michael’s visit was a success, even though it had to be a short one. He did a large amount of private consultations and neutered five feral cats, three of which were pregnant. Julia thanked Guy for assisting George and Nik and Lyn for the use of their premises. I.T. Mike said there was not a lot to report. The website has had 108 hits from 22 different countries. He hoped things would pick up during the summer. Feeding Group Dinah asked if everyone had received her email regarding the feeding budget and all agreed that they had and that it was acceptable. There was a discussion regarding the Greek people who are on the feeding list and it was suggested that they should become members if they are to receive free food for the animals they feed. Mike suggested that a Greek version of the Membership form should be produced and given to Takis to hand to the Greek people on the feeding list to invite them to join. Fund Raising Group May Ball will be held on 26th May 2010 Treasure Hunt will be held in September 2010. Any Other Business Julia thanked Clive for providing an excellent chocolate cake for the meeting. There being no other business the meeting closed at 20:50. The next meeting will be the ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING which will be held at the Pleiades Hotel on Wednesday 9th June 2010 commencing at 19:00. |
