Fund Raising is a very important aspect of the charity. Funds are raised by numerous events such as Quiz nights, charity swims, The 100 club, bring and buy sales, the ASAP stall plus book and Jams/chutney sales. Some of these events are run by ASAP and some by the Fund Raising Group of Alonissos. We also are awarded funds from a number of other charities, The Edna Smiley Trust for instance. |
The ASAP stall has had a fantastic summer, despite not opening until June the takings totalled 1272.46E when it closed in October. The volunteers’ who gave up their valuable time were Doug and Sara Vale, Annie Green, Dave and Gerry Court, Jan and Jeff moon, Dinah Sinclair and the late Helene James. Thank you to you all for your help and support. We would also like to thank the Alonissos port police who paid for half of the stalls licence this year and allowed us to spread our wares along the walls. The best sellers had to be the new 2010/11 calendar’s being sold at 10 euros. The next best sellers were the second hand books mainly being sold at 2 euros. A few of the T shirts were sold but we were disappointed by small numbers. The old stock of cat and dog ornaments and nick nacks have had little interest. |
The May Ball held at the Pleiades restaurant on May 26th was a great success. A combination of the ticket sales, raffle and sales of calendars and t-shirts raised 500 euros for ASAP. I think that a good time was had by all and I would like to thank all those who attended and who were so generous in their support of ASAP. In particular I would like to thank the following: George Anagnostou for allowing us to use his premises and for giving us a very good meal. Jeff & Jan Moon and Harry & Val Greenwood for helping with the cooking and food preparation. Dinah and Craig Sinclair for making sure that all ran smoothly and for putting up posters, selling t-shirts and calendars, and for serving the food and drinks. Dianne Lewin and Clive Ponting for organising a wonderful raffle. All the members of the Aloni Band who gave their time and expertise to make sure that everyone had a great evening.
